Funghi I, ‘Cycle’, Ouroboros
13x13cm
Edition limited to 12 giclée prints

Part of my exploration of the Ouroboros theme. A topic that gives rise to many questions, and which I will therefore take calmly and in stages. I naturally called this first phase the ‘Cycle’, as it focuses on the idea of continuous renewal – birth, life, death, birth. Nothing represents the cycle better than Nature, so throughout the year (perhaps years) I’ll create more artworks to record its cycle.

From these two small paintings, I created two limited editions, each with a total of 12, in honor of the size of the originals (12x12cm, since they were also created for the 12x12 festival exhibition).

Frequently Asked Questions

"A true giclée print refers to an archival print made from an inkjet printer equipped with a highly permanent set of inks in a wide range of colors. Artists, galleries, and collectors seek out giclée prints because of their unmatched standard of digital reproduction, and archival longevity." - from Brooklyn Editions

My giclées are made in a printshop specialized in this work. They use 12 colours to print it, so the end result is closer to the original work. They combine mineral pigment-based paints with archival quality paper for longevity.

Aging estimates – based on laboratory tests – point to a resistance to fading and colour change of more than 200 years under ideal conditions (storage in the dark at 22.7ºC and 50% RH), and up to 86 years when exposed under glass.

All made with love in Portugal.

Both prints and originals on paper are shipped inside a PLA (more eco-friendly) or OPP envelope* to protect them from humidity. They're also wrapped, and then cardboard is added for support/to avoid bending. Then it is shipped in a cardboard envelope.

*It's not ideal, but necessary, and I'm always on the lookout for more sustainable alternatives.
